RAMLEELA
2011

Little
Pearls celebrated this year Ramleela on 29th and 30th of
September. It provides an opportunity for each child to develop socially,
intellectually and physically at his or her own pace in a safe, secure and
nurturing environment.

The story
of ‘Ram’ represents universal truths and a way of life which is exemplary.
These include concepts such as the determination of Hanuman to grow in stature
to complete his task of reaching Sri Lanka, the acceptance of Shabari’s fruit
setting an example against discrimination of caste and creed, the Laxman Rekha
being a subtle reminder of the pitfalls that may follow transgression amongst
many others. The Ramayan thus becomes a way of life as opposed to a complete
sub-servience to radical belief.
Ramleela manifests itself as a set of principles
governing human behavior such as Ram’s duty towards obeying his father’s
command. These might seem oppressive in a modern society yet they embody a
spirit of service which may best be defined as love towards sentiment that
demands service.

The whole school participated in the
Ramleela. Each class was allotted a scene from Ramayan and the children displayed scenes
on the life of Lord Ram for the occasion very beautifully and brilliantly. Each character in Ramayan
exemplifies the ideal of relationship in service - Hanuman as a devotee, Laksman
as a brother, Sita as a wife. The
whole staff of Little Pearls and the teachers had put in a lot of efforts and
hard works to bring the characters of Ramayana alive from the Great Epic.
As parents of the participants were invited to witness the
spectacular show, they were amazed and astounded to see their kids performing
at that level. The whole school was decorated with flowers and standees of
Ramayana as a dedication to the occasion. Both days performances at Little
Pearls made the whole staff very proud of their little ones. The hard work done
by their teachers and the staff of little Pearls was really reward-able!!
